Ozbookshop is a online second hand bookshop which is a small family owned business based in Brisbane, Queensland. Selling second hand books on our website Ozbookshop.com.au has been a natural progression. My first job was helping my parents sell second hand books and records at Rocklea Markets approx 25 years ago. We have always loved reading but books can be expensive! So we would buy books new, read them and then sell them at the Market. My parents eventually went on to a open a permanent record store (A-Z Records) at Paddy's Markets in Fortitude Valley and we stopped selling used books.

We never stopped reading though! 20 years on, we had all amassed quite a large collection of books. In December 2003 I joined Ebay and started selling the odd book or two for some extra spending money, not knowing that it would very quickly turn into a full time career.  [ Ozbookshop on Ebay ]   We now have over 15,000 positive feedback on Ebay and look forward to hitting the 20,000 feedback goal.

My parents helped from very early on and when the business started to grow, we realised we needed to make listing books and processing orders easier and faster. We also knew we could lower our prices even more if we did not have such a reliance on Ebay. To this aim we launched the Ozbookshop website In August 2007. It was hard going at first as there was alot to learn about running a second hand book website, but we slowly settled in and have now been succesffully runing the site for 2 years!

Meet the people behind the large piles of Books..

Firstly, there is my wonderful mum (Lillie) who scans and describes most of the books on our website. It takes a lot of time to describe and scan a second hand book, so she spends most of her day behind her computer!  Hopefully she doesn't mind too much.

My Dad (Mark) helps me buy books on the weekends when he isnt busy teaching Ju Jitsu. We both have a lot of fun scouring good buys from garage sales, markets and book fairs. Our houses are constantly overrun with thousands of books - but we love it!  My Dad Mark also happens to be the best / Internationally reknowned,  self-defence / Ju Jitsu instructor in Brisbane. It is my job (Chay-Maree) to transfer all of the books my mum has prepared from her computer and onto our website. I also do the wrapping and posting of the books each day to ensure you receive your books as soon as possible.  I am also in charge of administration.
